ENTRY
REGULATIONS: |
| A
valid passport is required of all visitors. Visitors, except those
from countries with which the Philippines has no diplomatic relations,
may enter the country without visas and stay for 21 days provided
they hold an onward or return ticket. Visas may be obtained from any
Philippine Diplomatic or Consular office abroad. |

CLIMATE: |
| Round-the-year
warm climate, characterized by relatively high humidity, mild temperatures,
abundant rainfall and gentle winds with three pronounced seasons:
rainy from June to October; cool and dry from November to February
and hot from March to May. |

CURRENCY: |
| Local
currency is the Philippine Peso (PhP). The Philippine peso is pegged
to the Canadian dollar at a rate of 35.00 PhP to the CAD$, although
the rate varies depending on the exchange rate. |

ELECTRICITY: |
| 220
volts, 60 cycles. Most hotels also have 110-volt outlets. |

LANGUAGE: |
| Filipino
and English with over a hundred dialects spoken across the country. |

HEALTH
REQUIREMENT:

| Vaccination
certificates are usually not required. Check with your local health
authority for change in requirements. |

AIRPORT
FACILITIES & TAX:

| The
Philippines has two international airports - the Ninoy Aquino International
Airport in Manila and the Mactan International Airport in Cebu. Departure
tax for international flights is approximately CAD$20.00. Domestic
taxes vary according to how many "legs" of travel one flies. |

SHOPPING: |
| The
Philippines teems with great shopping bargains and treasures. Malls
and department stores are abundant in and out of the city. Some of
the best buys are hand-woven fabrics from different regions. |

Philippine
cuisine is a blend of Chinese, Spanish and local culinary arts.
Every region has its own unique cuisine. In Manila, specialty restaurants
serve international food, regional Philippine dishes and seafood.
